9/9/2010Chilliwack Bruins Sign Two New Forwards
The Chilliwack Bruins have signed forwards Clay Spencer and Luke Harrison to standard WHL education contracts.
The Bruins have now signed their top three selections from the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft.
Defenseman Keegan Kanzig, the Bruins' first round selection signed with the Bruins in June.
Bruins General Manager and Head Coach Marc Habscheid says now they're pleased to add Spencer and Harrison to the team.
He says they perfomed well in camp and they're looking forward to seeing them improve this season.
And the Bruins are back in action tomorrow night.
They visit the Vancouver Giants in a pre-season game in Ladner.
The same teams play back in Chilliwack Saturday night.

9/8/2010Woods Selected For Ryder Cup Team
Tiger Woods was picked yesterday for the US Ryder Cup team.
Wood's was named to the team by captain Corey Pavin.
Pavin's three other picks were Zach Johnson, Stewart Cink and 21-year-old Rickie Fowler.

9/8/2010Bush to be Stripped of Heisman
2005 Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush is expected to be stripped of the award by the end of the month.
The former Southern Cal running back would become the first player in the 75-year history of the award to have the trophy taken away.

9/8/2010Jays and Mariners Win
Shaun Marcum struck out nine over seven innings and the Blue Jays went deep four times in Toronto's 8-5 win over Texas.
Vernon Wells had two solo shots for Jays, while Adam Lind and John Buck also homered.
Toronto has seven straight win against Texas.
The Seattle Mariners scored 5 runs in the 2nd innnig, and held on for a 7-5 win over Oakland.

9/8/2010Bruins Take on Giants This Weekend
The Vancovouver Giants will be the opposition this weekend for the Chilliwack Bruins in pre-season action.
Bruins trimmed their roster to just under 30 players after the weekend games against Kamloops.
A number of the 15 and 16 year old's were returned to their club teams.
Bruins head coach Marc Habscheid says it was good to evaluate the young guys in game action.
Friday's game against the Giants will be in Ladner, with the return match up set for Saturday night at Prospera Centre.

9/8/20107 Chilliwack Bruins Heading to NHL Camps
The Chilliwack Bruins have 7 players attending NHL camps which begin in the next couple of days.
For the second straighy year Bruins captain Brandon Manning will attend an NHL camp. Last year it was the Toronto Maple Leafs, and this year it's the New York Rangers.
Manning earned a free agent try out with the Rangers and will play in the prospects tournament in Michigan which begins on Saturday.
The 20 year he's learned from last year's NHL experience.
Manning will be joined at Rangers camp by Roman Horak.
Also playing in the prospects tournament are Tyler Stahl and Chris Collins with Carolina, and Dylen McKinley with the Minnesota Wild.
Ryan Howse will play in the Calgary Flames Young Stars tournament in Penticton.
Their first game is Monday against the Anehiem prospects.
While 3rd round pick Kevin Sundher is off to camp with the Buffalo Sabres.

Practices get going tonight for the Chilliwack Rugby Fall league.
The U 19 games are played on Saturday mornings, and the U-15 and U-17 teams play on Sundays.

The Novice Curling Clinics are coming up Septeber 13th to the 15th at the Chilliwack Curling Club.
Cost is $20.
Open ice begins Sunday.
Curling leagues begin Sept. 17th, with the day leagues beginning September 20th.

9/7/2010Great Start For Soudek
The Chilliwack Bruins will continue practices this week after their first pre-season games on the weekend against Kamloops.
Bruins lost 8-3 Friday in Chase but bounced back with a 6-3 win Saturday night in Mission.
Newcomer Robin Soudek made a good first impression scoring a hat trick in Saturday's win.
The 19 year old from the Czech Republic gave credit to his linemates.
Soudek played on a line with Roman Horak and Ryan Howse, combing for 9 points in the game.
Bruins take on the Vancouver Giants Friday in Ladner, and Saturday at Prospera Centre.

9/7/2010Stamps Route Eskimos in Labour Day Clash
A pair of Labour day games yesterday in the CFL.
The Calgary Stampeders pounded the Edmonton Eskimos 52-5 in the battle of Alberta.
Stamps improved to 8 and 1, while Edmonton is 2 and 7.
In the battle out east, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats knocked off Toronto 28-13.

The Chilliwack Huskers had a bye over the long weekend.
Huskers return to action this Sunday in Kelowna against the Okanagan Sun.

9/5/2010Pre-Season: Bruins Even the Score Against the Blazers
Robin Soudek notched a hat trick, leading the Chilliwack Bruins to a 6-3 victory last night over the Kamloops Blazers in a pre-season game in Mission.
Soudek is a product of the Czech Republic, and was playing in his first game as a Bruin, after coming over in a trade with the Edmonton Oil Kings.
Also scoring last night for the Bruins was Roman Horak and 15-year-olds Clay Spencer and Ryan Harrison.
The Bruins take on the Vancouver Giants next weekend in a pair of pre-season games.
Friday's game will be played in Ladner and Saturday they're back at Propsera Centre in Chilliwack.

9/4/2010Yankees Win, Mariners lose
The New York Yankees matched their longest winning streak of the season with a 7-3 victory over Toronto.
The Yankees' seventh straight win keeps them a game-and-a-half ahead of Tampa Bay in the American League East.

The Mariners shut out the Indians last night.
Seattle won 1-0 over Cleveland.
The teams play again tonight in Seattle.

9/4/2010A Devil of a summer for Illya Kovalchuk
Ilya Kovalchuk is officially a New Jersey Devil.
The NHL signed off on his latest long-term contract with the Devils after rejecting the first one.
The NHL approved a revised 15-year, 100 million dollar US deal.
That's after reaching an agreement with the Players Association on an amendment covering long-term contracts.

BC Lions coach Wally Buono says winning is always a relief, especially after two months of losing.
BC won for the first time since the opening week of the season, ending a seven-game losing run with a 38-17 win at Montreal.
Chris Leak was unable to fill the shoes of injured Alouettes quarterback Anthony Calvillo, as Montreal ended a 13-game home winning streak.

The Chilliwack Bruins hope to even the odds against the Kamloops Blazers tonight.
The Bruins lost the first pre-season game against the Blazers last night with a final score of 8-3.
The teams played in Chase yesterday and rematch in Mission tonight.

9/3/2010Carey Price Signs with Habs
Goalie Carey Price wants to prove to the Montreal Canadiens that it was money well spent.
The restricted free agent signed a two-year contract with the Canadiens worth 5.5 million dollars US.
Price is coming off a spotty 2009-2010 season, and will be looking to show the Canadiens they made the right choice when they traded Jaroslav Halak to St. Louis.
Halak bumped Price from the starting job at the end of the season and led the Habs on a surprise run to the Eastern Conference finals.

It's time to hurry...haaarrrdd into a new curling season Chilliwack.
The Curling Club is hosting Novice clinics September 13, 14 and 15.
They'll cost you 20 bucks.
Open ice is available starting Sunday the 12th.
Curling night leagues begin the 17th, with day leagues starting on the 20th.
